Called by a Different Name
Your Personality Prepares You for Your Position
God can use who we are in character to prepare us for who we will become in the title. In the same way, God has given us unique personalities and character traits that make us who we are. What we choose to do with our nature determines if we are aligned with the will of God or not. In the case of Paul, he was a zealous and sincere man before he believed in Jesus Christ. He had great reverence for God and the law of Moses. However, he punished early Christians before God called him to believe in the Son.
Most of us come to know our personalities according to how the world views and values us. Maybe someone has called you outgoing or shy; perhaps you are an innovator or traditionalist. Whatever the personality label, you must measure it against God's standards and not those of men. For example, if an outgoing gossip can spread bad news about others, God can use that same personality to spread the good news about Him.
If the intellectual who is often too smart for their good can devise schemes to build themselves up, that same intellectual can help build strategies to build up the kingdom of God. God uses who we are— and what we have— to accomplish the good work he has planned. Each of us— the many parts— makes up the body of Christ, and we all have a role to play.
Don't worry about having the vision if God has given you the voice. Don't worry about being the voice when you can touch the hearts of His people. Don't worry about the names you are being called because God calls you by a different name. For it is written, in 2 Corinthians “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” If he turned Saul into Paul, rejoice in knowing he calls you His child, His chosen people, a royal priesthood. That's who you are as a believer in Christ. Walk boldly in your title.
