A Rock & A Hard Place
How To Trust God To See You Through.
Have you ever found yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place? If you're like Daniel, the answer is yes more often than not. You're torn between a choice to remain faithful to what is true and right vs. what is convenient and popular. In Daniel 6, that is the exact predicament the prophet found himself in.
At the request of local rulers, King Darius issued an irrevocable edict that no one should pray to any god or human being for 30 days or risk death. Even still, Daniel recognized the sovereignty of God and chose to go about his business.
"Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
Daniel 6:10
Would you have the nerve to be so bold in the presence of such a threat? What if it didn't require nerve at all. Only radical faith that the God we serve is worthy of all praise and honor, especially in the face of adversity. See, Daniel knew that he was chosen. He also knew God was with him, just as he had been with his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the blazing furnace.
After being thrown in the lion's den for a night, King Darius called out to Daniel and said, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?" And to Darius' delight, Daniel responded, "May the king live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me because I was found innocent in his sight."
The One who got Daniel into Lion's den was the One who got him out alive. So the next time you find yourself between that rock and a harder place, remember that God won't lead you to anything he can't see you through. Chose to be like Daniel, have radical faith, and watch those who seek to destroy you face the fate they planned for you.
At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lion’s den … and before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed their bones.
